Seal of the Valkyrie Patch

Valkyrie is inscribed around the edges of the patch in Elder Futhark, the oldest form of the runic alphabet used by Germanic tribes from roughly the 2nd to 8th centuries. A Valkyrie adorns the center of the patch slung a crossed her back a modern piece of metal 🤌🏼 for a touch of 2a. Behind her a swan motif a nod to Völundarkviða, a poem from the Poetic Edda, where three brothers encounter "Valkyrie-like" women who wear swan garments. These swan-maidens—sometimes interpreted as Valkyries or closely related figures—shed their feathered cloaks to bathe, only to fly away when the garments are stolen. This motif of transformation via swan feathers mirrors the Valkyries’ ability to shift between worlds and their association with destiny. The swan, then, becomes a metaphor for their ethereal.
